ANSWERS TO COMMON QUESTIONS

How far is the Cabin from the Bay Area?
The Alpine Modern Cabin is about 2.5 hours from the East Bay and 3 hours from San Francisco/San Jose, and Marin County
How's the Drive to Arnold?
The last 15 miles to Arnold can get a bit windy, but in general is an easier drive than between Bay Area to the Tahoe area.
Are there Bears?
Yes. Arnold and our Cabin are in bear country. Do not leave ANY food in your car or outside. We have a Bear Box for Trash.
What's there to do?
The Cabin is plenty comfortable to stay inside and do nothing, if that’s what you are looking to do! Otherwise, the Cabin is just steps away from a small private lake. The Arnold and surround areas offer many outdoor activities, from ski/boarding to fishing, wine tasting, and hiking.
Are there stores and restaurants nearby?
While our Cabin is fairly private (surrounded by trees and up on a hill) it is also centrally located in Arnold. We are just minutes from a large supermarket / shopping center with restaurants such as Pizza and Chinese Food. There are many local restaurants and a Brewery and Whiskey/Vodka Distillery close by.
Is there Snow?
Yes! We do get snow on the property during winter months, but not as much as higher elevations that are closer to the Ski Resort at Bear Valley such as Dorrington, Big Trees and Blue Lake Springs neighborhoods. Be prepared with Chains, even with 4WD. Depending on the weather conditions, nearby Highway 4 can require chains.
